Dear Janice,

I wanted to write just briefly to tell you how much I enjoyed our
meeting yesterday.  I found it extremely informative and helpful.
Because adjusting one's eating habits can be such a major thing, I
liked the way you moved us in that direction.

I liked your professionalism and straightforward manner. And I really
liked that you didn't laugh at some of the things I said (the box of
See's candy, for example), or that we were overweight, etc.

All in all, I thought it was most productive. I'm sure we'll see
results with diligence and intelligent effort.

Janice Holm Dada, MPH, RD, CDE

Janice Holm Dada, MPH, RD, CDEJanice Dada is the owner and principal dietitian of SoCal Nutrition & Wellness, a nutrition counseling and consulting practice. Janice uses an integrative approach to work with individuals, families, groups, and corporations. Clients seek Janice's expertise to assist them in their wellness journey and/or to manage any number of nutrition-related diseases/disorders. In fact, many of SoCal Nutrition & Wellness' clients know a lot about nutrition, but simply need the expertise of a dietitian to take appropriate action toward their goals. Janice uses a non-diet, research-based approach (no fads here!) and focuses on the use of real, whole foods to nourish the body.  Dietary supplements are only recommended on a case-by-case, as needed basis, which is determined during the initial nutrition assessment.

Janice does not dictate to clients, but instead employs motivational interviewing techniques during counseling sessions, which allows clients to take ownership of their goals and acheive a higher level of success. In addition, no foods are off-limits as Janice uses intuitive eating principles to guide her clients toward their nutrition and wellness goals. Janice makes a point of "meeting clients where they are." This means that each client that walks in the door will have a unique experience. While one client may be ready to focus on specifics of a meal plan, another may only be ready to work on drinking more water.

Janice enjoys working with the individuals across the age spectrum, throughout the lifecycle: from pregnancy to childhood to adulthood to older age. As a parent herself, Janice is especially passionate about infant and child nutrition and even teaches classes to parents on the topics of introducing solids and toddler nutrition. As a life-long athlete and exercise enthusiast, Janice also has a passion for sports and exercise nutrition and is professionally trained to help others achieve optimal nutrition for sports performance.

Additionally, Janice is an adjunct faculty member at Chapman University and the University of California, Irvine. She has also held faculty positions at Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Fullerton, and Fullerton College. Janice has volunteered countless hours in the nutrition community by serving as an executive board member of the California Dietetic Association—Orange district, previously serving as Public Policy Chair and Treasurer.

Furthermore, Janice is a freelance writer. Her work has been featured in Today’s Dietitian magazine, in addition to numerous websites, blogs, and consumer periodicals. To view some of Janice’s published work, please click on the Publications tab in the orange box to the left.
