I was running for my high school track team when I first realized the fascinating effects of nutrition - there was a clear performance improvement when I switched up my pre-race fuel! This simple recognition took full flight and eventually led me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nutrition science, a master’s degree in public health, and a rewarding career as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

My first few years as an RDN were spent working with veterans at the VA outpatient nutrition clinic in Long Beach and teaching undergraduate nutrition courses at local colleges and universities. I opened the doors to SoCal Nutrition & Wellness at the end of 2009 so that I could offer more time and attention in one-on-one consults, provide services to the community at large, continue to teach nutrition to college students, and have the opportunity to take on unique consulting projects.

In my private practice, I specialize in helping individuals and families optimize their health, well-being, and eating behaviors. I offer personalized nutrition counseling using a non-diet, weight-inclusive framework, which means I don’t focus on body size or prescribe eating rules to follow. Instead, I use a client-centered model of care and serve as a guide on the journey to better health and wellness. My approach incorporates evidence-based nutrition principles along with an understanding of human behavior and psychology. This process looks different for everyone; there is no “one size fits all.”

My experience in this field extends from individual nutrition counseling across a wide range of ages, cultures, and abilities to leading small and large group workshops to teaching undergraduate and graduate-level nutrition classes. I am frequently asked to consult with organizations, sports teams, private groups and have even served as an expert witness.

I have worked with people from all walks of life. Each individual has a unique story that has shaped their relationship with food and their body image. My passion lies in hearing that story and helping people forge a unique path to the improved wellbeing they seek.

When I am not counseling or consulting, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, eating delicious food, and enjoying the SoCal sunshine.
