I was just a young high school student running on the track team when I first realized the fascinating effects of nutrition. I vividly recall how I noticed a performance improvement during one specific race after consuming a different type of pre-race food. This simple recognition took full flight and led me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nutrition science and a master’s degree in public health.
Fast-forward to present day and that passion for nutrition still runs strong. I feel immensely grateful to be in such an interesting and rewarding line of work as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) in a variety of capacities.
In my private practice, I specialize in helping individuals and families optimize their health, well-being, and eating behaviors. I offer personalized nutrition counseling and group workshops using a non-diet, weight-inclusive framework, which means I don’t focus on body size or prescribe eating rules to follow. Instead, I serve as a guide on the journey to better health and wellness using evidence-based nutrition principles and modalities. This wellness journey looks different for everyone; there is no “one size fits all.”
My experience in this field extends from individual counseling across a wide range of ages, body sizes, cultures, and abilities to leading small and large group workshops to teaching undergraduate and graduate-level nutrition classes. I am frequently asked to consult with organizations, sports teams, private groups and have even served as an expert witness.
In one-on-one counseling, I have worked with executives, professors, stay-at-home moms/dads, college students, seniors, teenagers, creative entrepreneurs, individuals recovering from drug/alcohol addiction, people in life transition, and more. Each individual has a unique story that has shaped their relationship with food. My passion lies in hearing that story and helping people forge a unique path to the improved health and wellbeing they seek.
When I am not counseling or consulting, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, eating delicious food…and I still love to run.
